SUPER GT 2011 – Panning

I went to this event last 2 weeks, finally got time to review all the images.
Please click the images for 1024 x 683 pixel.

Some of my friends asked me, “how come the head of the car in focused, then blurred all the way to the end.”

Tips is, pan the subject with low shutter speed, 1/125 or below. The slower shutter speed you set, the blur effect is obvious.

I was learned from a Japanese photographer, luckily he shared the setting out and of course with image explained. He told me, it will be great to focus the head of the car when you pan. Just like you capture portrait, you focus the subject’s eye instead. Of course depend on what story you want to tell in the photo. Anyhow, this is just a guideline from him.

If you notice, most of my images tilted down/up/horizontal, that’s no right or wrong. You can tilt up (the car may looks more dynamic. Thanks uncle HALEE for the tips)

Not sure viewer like this kind of image, because only head of the car got focus then blurred all the way…

I love this background blur effect, but some sponsors of the car might don like it because almost half of the image blurred.
